50thInfantry Regiment's history

Translated by Johan Tammela

There is plenty of good literature about the 50th Infantry Regiment of the Finnish Defence Forces during the Finnish Continuation War. However, as the Internet has nowadays become the most important information source, there is not very much information about the 50th Infantry Regiment on the Internet. That's why I wanted to take part to fix this problem a little. On this website, which handles military history, I am not going to go through all possible details about the history of the 50th Infantry Regiment of the Finnisch Defence Forces, but I am going to give a general description of it. If you want to, you can find more information e.g. in the books which are mentioned in the source lists.

I would like to thank all of them who have helped me to create this website by giving me material which I could use.

I have made this website because I am interested in the military history. At the same time, however, I would like to remember my father, Uuno Hänninen, who spent a part of his war time with the 50th Infantry Regiment in White Karelia.

This website is not made to admire the war. This website is made because I hope that we never have to experience a war again!
